MISSING HUNTER FOUND AFTER 14 HOUR SEARCH
On Saturday, December 5, 2015, Carlos Segura (48) from San Antonio took his grandson to go hunting on CR 450 in the Comanche Hills Subdivision. Segura put his grandson in a blind for the evening hunt and told him that he would pick him up after sunset. Segura did not return.
Two of the family members started searching for Segura but was unable to locate him. They walked to a hunting came and they contacted a Father and Son at that location. It was now 12:30 Am and they decided to contact The Edwards County Sheriff's Office.
Four Deputies, Border Patrol, a Fire Department unit and the Game Warden started to the location to assist in locating Segura. After searching on foot for about an hour, and in extremely thick brush, the search and rescue team was dispatched from Del Rio. DPS was notified and DPS deployed their Helicopter for an aerial search of the area.
The DPS helicopter flew over until fog started setting in. At approximately 3:30 Am they returned to Del Rio waiting for daylight and the fog to clear.
The search and rescue team, with a K9 unit continued the search until approximately 10:00 am when Segura was located. Segura was found to be in good health and was reunited with his family.
