                                     Laredo Texas Jr. High Student drowns near Camp Wood Texas

 

On Saturday January 16, 2016, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a 14 year old male from Laredo Texas was fishing in a spring fed stock tank and apparently fell in from a pier and presumed to have drown. Cherry Springs Ranch is located in the tri-county area of Edwards, Real and Uvalde counties just south of Camp Wood, Texas.

Jaedon Chase Benavidez, age 14, was discovered in 8 foot of water after family members went looking for him. CPR was administered by family until Nueces Canyon EMS arrived transported Benavides to University Hospital in San Antonio Texas. He was pronounced dead at 9:22 p.m. by Dr. Richard Taylor, staff member at University Hospital.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and the cause of death is pending further investigation. Edwards County Sheriff Pamela Elliott stated, "Our entire community is mourning the loss of Jaedon and we pray for his family during tragic incident".
