CHARGES INCREASED ON THREATS TO WITNESSES

On Monday August 21, 2017 a case was being reviewed at the Edwards County Sheriff's Office on a Terroristic Threat that happened in May 2017, at the Mesa Motel. A disabled man was assaulted by two Del Rio Men that caused the man to be hospitalized, be monitored in ICU and be put on life support. Terroristic Threats is a Class A Misdemeanor and is punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a $4000.00 fine.

Isaac Jimenez and Ashley Castro is accused of threatening witnesses, with harm and possibly death if the witnesses told Law Enforcement anything about the incident. The witness were afraid to come forward concerning the Injury to the Disabled case.

The State of Texas will file the charges against the alleged actors in the original incident and The State will also file the new charges against Jimenez and Castro. It was determined that the Terroristic charges did not properly fit the incident so the Terroristic Threat Charges were dismissed and re-filed by The Edwards County Sheriff's Office. The new charge is Retaliation and is a 3rd degree Felony punishable up 2-10 years in prison and optional fine not to exceed $10,000.

Ashley Castro was arrested on August 22, 2017 without incident and transported to the Edwards County Detention Facility where Castro posted a $15000.00 bond. Jimenez is currently incarcerated at The Texas Department of Corrections (TDC) on an unrelated charge from Val Verde County
